Wild Swimming
Close to the house there is a spring fed, freshwater swimming lake, which the braver members of the family swim in year round. For the less hardy, the clay lining ensures that from late March - September it is a lovely temperature - there is a swim platform and steps into the water to make things as easy as possible. For kids (big and small!) there are paddle boards, a rowing boat and other water toys.
Fishing
For keen anglers, there are both fly and coarse fishing rods and plenty of trout and carp to catch.
Al Fresco dining
On the banks of the lake, next to the boathouse, we have a large South African inspired fire pit, which is fantastic for those wanting to cook over a fire, or just to sit around at any time of day. There is also a gas BBQ, a charcoal BBQ and the boathouse itself is equipped with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, sink, cutlery/crockery/glassware and a loo, to make al fresco dining as simple and easy as possible. We also have two beautiful oak tables (seating 16+), directors chairs and two very large parasols to provide shade.
Picnics
There are 20 acres of grass parkland just waiting to be explored and with many shady spots, perfect for picnics.
Games
There is a wonderful large, flat lawn next to the lake which is perfect for croquet, or a kickabout. The walnut trees are home to several swings and beyond those, in the park there are two football goal for those wanting a more serious game. The gravel in front of the house has also set the scene for many a petanque battle.
